Renewing vehicle registration in California can now be done online. Once the motorist receives their vehicle renewal California, they can go to the CA DMV website and enter the identification number that is on the renewal notice. Proof of insurance will have to be filed with the DMV. If the motorist lives in an area where a smog certification is required, it must be submitted every two years unless the vehicle is a 1975 or older model. If the vehicle is less than four years old, they don’t have to have a smog check but they will have to pay an abatement fee. When paying online, the motorist can pay all their fees with an e-check.
